The nut is an important piece of ebony that supports the strings flow into the peg box. When the nut grooves become to low; spacing between strings is not correct; grooves to narrow or to wide or deep; issues arise - this can led to buzzes, no string clearance on fingerboard, premature damage to strings or strings snapping.
Bass eyelets on bows fail. It is very important to have an eyelet taped properly to match the threads of the screw, then fit properly to the mortice and then set for a snug fit.
The weather, a bump or old glue can allow a seam to pop. Please have an open seam repair right away. Leaving a seam open for too long will add to the problem and cost.
