Dolores Vann

 Her teachers include Douglas Stewart, Elie Spivak, Kathleen Parlow and Roman Totenberg; is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music and has been a member of the Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal Symphony Orchestras as well as the Vancouver CBC Radio Orchestra, l'Orchestre Radio-Canada, McGill Chamber Orchestra, and Musici Allegri in Edmonton. She was a founding member and Concertmaster of the Vancouver Island Symphony until her 'performance' retirement in 2000.  Since then she has concentrated on a full teaching schedule and until 2006 acted as interim Head of Strings at the Victoria Conservatory of Music in Victoria BC during which time she founded the Summer String Academy.  She is married to internationally acclaimed Bow Maker, Michael Vann.  They make their home on Gabriola Island BC.  She has three children, Michael, Rachele and Monique, four grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.  She continues to teach and adjudicate and remains an integral part of the business.  back
